Soumpe The fruit of Balanitès, called "Kelgga" in Mooré and "soumpe" in Wolof, consumed by sucking once the epicarp has been removed. It has a sweet and slightly bitter taste. Sometimes used to stimulate the production of breast milk, it also has slightly laxative effects.
